Yesterday, we FINALLY hooked GTs Joanna to cart. A total non event. She sat quiet and serene as we played with the harness, fixed an issue and then she walked off like an old pro when asked. Whew! She is going to the National Drive (now that she has been hitched -to be driven everyday now -seven drives before the National), so we have really procrastinated in finally hitching her. She has turned into such a nice horse! She will always be a stomper, nothing else. Driving, saddle seat, etc. She has the piston action of a trot. It looks great, but you never get anywhere. So, she will be our hitch cart horse, saddle seat and trail riding. She is one gorgeous girl though.

The National Drive is next week, then the Perry National Draft Horse Show on Oct 16-17. I am feeling the pressure now. We don't have shoes on all or re-shod those that need it, that are going to the show, we haven't clipped yet, haven't cleaned up the babies and havent' finished packed. I have done some packing, sorting but as we didn't go to any draft horse shows this summer, the show gear is all over the place. I have SO much to do to get ready for this show and for the National Drive. Plus there is working out the car rides for my son to get to college when I am gone, things to cancel, etc. The issue with showing in pleasure, hitch cart, halter, riding (english and western) is all the STUFF!!! the devil is in the details.

I ordered a new, very fancy harness (pairs, that can be broken down into singles). This is my big present from Robert to me for the year. They were supposed to get here over two weeks ago. But the maker fell behind schedule. The harness was supposed to be set up as singles or pairs harness. Supposedly the harness makers was to ship them on Tuesday. But he called on the weekend, he had blown it: made them with long hame-tugs (for pairs only)-instead of short and so...he has to remake fit new hames to the collar and make the short tugs...sigh. Bottom line...I won't be able to use them until AFTER the drive, as I am bringing carts to the drive. rrrr. I have been dreaming about this harness for literally years, and I wanted to have them for the drive SO bad. I sold my leather hitch harness last spring, so have been driving with my decade old bio. Oh well. But if they don't get here for the Perry Draft horse show, I think I will probably burst into tears!

Another busy day for me. Cleaning stalls, feeding, measuring feet for shoes, cleaning up at least one weanling and training for halter, then riding Soleil and driving Joanna. There is some office work to do for the business and I have to drive Spencer to college (there and back, there and back) -which is 35 minutes in each direction. Plus, I need to do more packing and I wish to get some cleaning done. Better get started!

Deep breath, it will be ok, just make sure you have fun! What's the point if you are too stressed out to enjoy the beautiful weather, the horses, and friends? Hope you have a good time at ND! Make sure to take pics for me! I won't be going to Perry this year, Jane has reacted to the strangles vaccine and we are treating her. Hopefully no one else caught it, but I'm having to sterilize everything including the trailer. Hopefully next year for the ND and for the Perry show! Have fun! Maybe we can make the Fried Green Tomatoes drive when the plans get worked out! Have fun!
